There are necessary exercises, explorations and disappointments needed to arrive at the next painting.
Even within individual expressions there are moments when one may feel lost. I had to abandon this painting on location to leave it for another day when I felt a bit sharper.

Like trying to make way over waters of uncertainty, an artist must choose a direction while the end point may not be exactly clear. It is important to just try.

I realized while moving through this piece, using transparent passages or opaque overlays, that paintings are like life itself: stepping stones to knowing who we are, how we work, and what we love, while learning as we go.

All of us add to this journey as colour notes compliment a work of art, and each individual experience contributes to making another stone that builds a path forward.

May you also have courage to make the next step in the colourful painting called “life”. Jane
