SOME SUGGESTION FOR WORKSHOPS BY JANE:

“THE NATURE OF EXPRESSION”

Using simple tools, pens and/or brushes discover the natural way to express an image.

Simplification through brushwork, composition, colour & design will be discussed and Jane will lead you through various gestural sketches and mark making.

When starting with line a simple outline, contour or gesture can be expanded on while artists consider the elements of design including line, shapes, space, textures, colours, and values.

One of the simplest ways to depict something is to do a simple line drawing of what you see. When employing colour and other elements, the process becomes complex, and options are limitless but honing skills in these areas can build a repertoire of ways to express things that inspire us.

Come and enjoy the fun process of simplified expressive painting with Jane!

“PURPOSEFUL SIMPLIFICATION”

“There is power in each brushstroke which can impact a painting” and limiting certain elements will be the focus in this workshop. When painting “less is more” artists consider the elements of design such as using line, shapes, space, textures, colours and values. One of the simplest ways to depict something is to do a simple line drawings of what you see. When employing colour and other elements, the process becomes complex and options are limitless.

In this two hour class Jane will lead participants in exploring simplification through various exercises in painting using watercolour or acrylic.
